Tailor at Udaipur

Tailor at Udiapur
Dates back to my first trip to India sometime in the late 20th century about 1996 I think.
This is a common sight all over India. the slabs of colour on the left are piles of textiles.

Pairs

Another Dungeness subject.

I do'nt think the title needs explaining.

Incidently all of these paintings are in oils. This one on canvas.

Also all works are forsale!

Bicycle, Pondicherry
This painting is from an earlier series of Indian subjects following trips to Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
Old Man, Boat and Gulls
This is one of my largest paintings in recent years. It combines broad, expressive brushstrokes with a slightly naieve, narrative approach. The viewer is invited to interpret the scene.... to imagine the old man's story.
Derelict Shed 1
Another Dungeness subject. The beach at Dungeness has many such sheds. They used to house the winches which drew the boats back onto the beach. The sheds, like the boats are falling into disrepair. Nature is claiming them back.
RX28, Summer Sky
This is one of my larger paintings. An old wooden fishing boat, well maintained and still working, catching Lobster. RX signifies it's registration at Rye. This one is on the beach at Hastings.

OLD BRUSHES AND BOAT

This painting is the latest in a series based on a garden at Dungeness in Kent on the south coast. Fishermen discard their old brushes, used to paint their boats. Someone collects them, takes them home and sticks them in the stones outside their house. I also collect brushes and incorporate them into my work. Most recently I have started painting on the brushes.......
